Recswim is an initiative created by Swimming WA to help stimulate activity through a structured fitness swimming training program for those who are interested in recreational swimming. No matter what your ability, it is all about, fun fitness and strength conditioning that can be done anywhere, anytime for everybody, with no training commitments. Recswim provides members with different levels of coaching sessions compiled by qualified coaches, information on up and coming swimming events, workshops, nutrition hints and tips as well as other motivational and informative information. For those who prefer to swim open water or your aim is to swim in an open water event, Recswim provides training sets compiled by World Record Holder, Shelley Taylor-Smith. Triathlon WA, home of multisport has also compiled swim, bike and run training sets to mix up your swimming routine and perhaps one day compete in a Triathlon...it is all about getting involved and finding your level of activity that suits. Every two months Recswim provides swimmers with a new set of training programs for three different ability levels - Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced as well as nutrition and occupational therapy advice all compiled by professionals. As a member of Recswim, you will have access to all the latest information on the Open Water Swim Series and receive an exclusive discount on open water events. In addition Recswim offers some great virtual activities to participate in with some fantastic prizes on offer. Recswim aims to give WA the best quality swimming program and encourages all ages to lead an active and healthy lifestyle. With so much value on offer for only $25 a year, a Recswim membership is a must have! Introductory Program The introductory program is aimed to improve general fitness and to help prepare swimmers to compete in the 1.25km Swimming WA Open Water Swim events. Training sessions vary in length from an 800m to 2.0km training sessions. This program is recommended for those swimmers who enjoy social swimming but would like the convenience of having training sets compiled for them by professionals! Recommended training sessions per week: Two Intermediate Program The intermediate program is aimed to help train and prepare for a 2.5km swim and for the 2.5km Open Water Swim event. Sessions vary in length from 1.8km to 3.2km. Swimmers in this program should have a prior knowledge of swimming, have done some form of swim training and have a moderate level of fitness. Recommended training sessions per week: Two Advanced Program The advanced program is aimed to help swimmers train and prepare for a 5km swim and for the 5km Open Water Swim event. Sessions vary in length from 3.5km to 5.7km. This is the most advanced training sessions offered in the RecSwim program and are designed for swimmers who frequently train and have a high level of general fitness. Prior experience in swim training is highly recommended if you are signing on for this program. Recommended training sessions per week: 3 |
